This Suhr is Suhr-tainly very clean (Will I ever retire that pun? Absolutely not!). The frets are in perfect shape, and it shows incredibly light signs of normal use (mostly just some faint marks on the pickguard). The only imperfection in the finish is a small lacquer chip on the top of the headstock face. Condition Report

This Suhr is Suhr-tainly very clean (Will I ever retire that pun? Absolutely not!). The frets are in perfect shape, and it shows incredibly light signs of normal use (mostly just some faint marks on the pickguard). The only imperfection in the finish is a small lacquer chip on the top of the headstock face. All in all, it's quite clean, and it comes with an upgraded G&G case custom-made for the Classic S and a Suhr black leather strap, both of which are in outstanding shape.

Sonic Evaluation

"Classic S" is an appropriate model name for this serial, because it's a classic in every sense of the word. It's awfully hard to beat an S-style guitar with a 3-tone sunburst finish in terms of vintage style, and this serial has tone to match its iconic looks. It's a very vocal Strat with a chewy midrange, open lows, and sizzling highs that compel you to play expressively and push your creativity--I definitely had a few "Whoah, did I play that?" moments while evaluating it. It also has a wonderfully complex bouquet of overtones that gives chords plenty of weight and makes single notes quite beefy. The bridge pickup is a snarling demon, with a focused bite in the midrange, punchy lows, and highs reminiscent of a fanged church bell from Hades. The middle pickup is squarely in the Goldilocks Zone: muscular lows that don't overwhelm the balance of things, a glassy, sweet high-end, and a broader, punchier midrange response. The neck pickup ups the Gristle Factor in all areas as the EQ broadens and fattens in the lows, mids, and highs, making for a juicy tone that has enough clarity for chord work. If you're looking for iconic Strat sounds with the playability of a Suhr, you'll think this uber-clean serial is a classic as well!
