Sonic Evaluation
Within seconds of strumming this Augustino Loprinzi Nova Futura, I could tell that it was handbuilt with care by a masterful luthier. It has a round, piano-like attack, and it responds quickly and faithfully to your right-hand technique. Overall, it has a woody, clear voice with warm, sonorous bass response along with sunny, smooth trebles and rock-solid midrange presence. Single notes sing out sweetly, chords sound full and satisfying, and intricate fingerstyle lines come through with superb articulation. And, the Thurman Multi-Dimensional Sound Ports allow you to hear the nuances of your playing in much greater detail! All in all, this Nova Futura is a magnificent classical guitar sure to please just about any nylon-string enthusiast!
Condition Report
This hand-built classical from Augustino Loprinzi is in superb shape, with only a couple small imperfections to note. The frets show only very light wear, and they have tons of life left in them. There are a number of small dings in the finish, and they are mostly concentrated on the top. There is also some light checking on the bass-side lower bout. At one point, a previous owner installed a pickup system, which another previous owner removed and replaced with a Taylor strap button to hide the hole. If you don't mind these small cosmetic issues, you can snag a truly marvelous classical guitar for an excellent price! It comes with its original hardshell case, too.
