Stu-stu-studio! Sorry--when I get extremely excited about a guitar like I am about this PRS Studio, the Phil Collins puns start flying (and also I'm not sorry). This thing is amazing! What fun, versatile beast! It's resonant and lively, and I couldn't make it sound bad in any position. The bridge pickup is like a hi-fidelity version of a PAF, with the warm lows, snarling midrange, and open, sparkling highs we expect from that pickup archetype but with enhanced clarity and articulation as well as a wider EQ.
The Narrowfield pickups are their own animal entirely. They have the vocal qualities, bell-like chime, and general spirit of a fifties-style Strat pickup, but with the fatness and lushness of a great P-90 (and all with no hum!). So, the neck pickup is thick, juicy, and dripping with gristle, while the middle pickup trades some fat for muscle. The in-between positions have that quacky thing going on, but they sound really big--so maybe picture a 20 foot-tall duck from hades!
PRS bills this guitar as a desert island guitar that can do it all, and I think that's spot on; in fact, I think a lot of guitar players would never bother trying to return to civilization if this one washed up alongside them in a Castaway-type situation!
This gorgeous PRS Studio is uber-versatile, endlessly inspiring, and extremely clean. It shows very light signs of normal use (mostly just a few faint pick marks and one extremely light scratch on the back trem cover). It comes with its original brown paisley hardshell case, which looks extremely cool!
