Fender American Vintage Thin Skin 1955 Telecaster
Rock Around the Clock
The year 1955 was a tumultuous time for America as a whole, but it was an exciting time to be a rock and roller. Bill Haley and the Comets had a number one hit with their version of "Rock Around the Clock," one of the first rock and roll songs ever to make a splash on the charts. People were buying electric guitars left and right, and Leo Fender introduced a couple of snappy new paint jobs to help his instruments reach new audiences.
Our Thin Skin '55 Telecaster is an homage to the electric spirit of that year, so we asked our friends at Fender to spray it with our favorite color from '55, a gorgeous white blonde that we think highlights the grain of their ash bodies. Just like the Fenders from the fifties, these terrific Teles sport a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that allows the wood to breathe and resonate just like a vintage instrument.
Though they may have an old-school aesthetic, these Thin Skins are designed with the modern player in mind. The chunky U-shaped neck will feel like home thanks to its modern 9.5" radius, and the 6105 frets help it play smooth and fast like a shaved rabbit.
With that gross-but-accurate image behind us, let's talk about sound. Like our other Thin Skin Teles, these fly fifty-fives feature Twisted Tele pickups--a perpetual Wildwood favorite. The bridge pickup has all the bite, spank, chime, and snap you'll ever need, and the neck pickup provides warm, smooth, woody tone with a vocal resonance in the upper-midrange.
The Wildwood team is beyond excited to showcase these stellar Teles for our exceptional customers, and we invite you to experience the magic of 1955 by taking one of these sweet Thin Skins for a spin.
