All That Remains is Tone

Jason Richardson is your favorite shredlord's favorite shredlord. Ever since he burst onto the scene at age seventeen by joining legendary deathcore band All Shall Perish, he has wowed audiences with his sophisticated harmonic vocabulary, technical mastery, and throttle-down aggression. He's also done stints in Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin, put out an epic solo album, and most recently joined metal titans All That Remains.

Through it all, Jason has had an Ernie Ball Music Man strapped to his shoulder; in fact, he worked at a water park for a year as a teenager to afford his first American-made Music Man. One can imagine his excitement when they approached him about doing a signature 7-String Cutlass! The fruit of their collaboration, the Jason Richardson 7-String Cutlass, turned out absolutely marvelous.

The Curl of the Burl

As far as aesthetics go, the Jason Richardson 7-String Cutlass scores incredibly high on the Drool Scale. It has an alder body with a beautiful buckeye burl top, which the black burst finish complements beautifully. Also, the finish is an earthy satin, which sort of makes this guitar look like an ancient heavy metal relic unearthed by a powerful warrior.

Speaking of power, let's talk about this guitar's Valhalla-worthy tone. It has a roasted figured maple neck, which gives it a bit of dry, woody, vintage-style clarity. Music Man wound Jason some custom humbuckers specifically for this guitar, and they sit near the middle of the spectrum between low-output vintage vibe and high-output sizzle. So, they have plenty of character, but they still maintain the clarity, evenness, and articulation necessary for high-gain music. You can also tap either 'bucker and add in a 20db volume boost with the push-push pots for extra sonic variety. All in all, it's a versatile guitar with enough muscle for deathcore and enough nuance for jazz fusion.

We're proud to showcase the Jason Richardson 7-String Cutlass, an eldritch beast that plays like buttered Crisco and sounds like a leviathan. We invite you to take one for a spin and experience its crushing tone for yourself. Once you do, we have no doubt that you will want to make all kinds of thunderous noise!
