Gretsch G6120RHH Reverend Horton Heat Signature
Psychobilly Freakout
The honorable Reverend Horton Heat is one of rockabilly's greatest missionaries, and he has been spreading the gospel of hot licks, fast cars, and bad behavior for over thirty years. The Reverend's signature psychobilly sound injects the furious energy of punk rock into classic rockabilly forms (with, of course, a healthy dose of demented humor). Throughout all of his records, his blazing guitar work sits front and center. Like a good man of the cloth, the Rev is monogamous, and he has stayed faithful to his favorite tone his entire career. That tone, of course, is the sweet sound of Gretsch guitars. Of course, our friends at Gretsch simply had to give such a singular player a signature model! We are proud to present you with the fruits of their collaboration: the G6120 Reverend Horton Heat Signature.
Wrestle With the Trestle
The Reverend Horton Heat Signature is an absolute monster of a guitar. At first glance, it is quite aesthetically pleasing, thanks to its orange stain finish, fifties-inspired styling, and Western-themed inlays. Beneath that beautiful veneer, however, lies treasure trove of supercharged Gretsch tone. Underneath the arched laminated maple top, trestle bracing holds everything together and provides the foundation for the Reverend's tone. Trestle bracing is an upgrade from the simpler sound-post bracing found in most Gretsches. It makes the guitar respond like a solidbody while maintaining classic hollow-body tone. Also, it helps out with sustain and feedback control!
True TV Jones Tone
Two TV Jones Classic pickups take center stage when you plug in and amplify. These pickups--inspired by the Filter'trons of yore--are a delight to behold. They replicate sweet vintage Gretsch tone with startling accuracy. The bridge pickup has glorious jangly, open high end along with twangy, growly lows. The neck pickup has robust, rich low-end, vocal midrange, and sweet, singing highs. With the 3-way tone switch, you can make either pickup brighter or darker to suit your taste or the room you're playing in. So, this ginormous-sounding Gretsch is quite versatile!
Rev it Up
We are proud to showcase the Reverend Horton Heat Signature Gretsch, a guitar that brings a little bit of edge to the vintage Gretsch sound. We invite you to take one for a spin and have your own psychobilly freakout. Once you do, we're sure you'll be hooked on its sweet sounds.
