Gibson Custom Shop Wildwood Spec Made 2 Measure Historic Select 1957 Les Paul – Lightly Aged

"The '57 Les Paul Standard is one of my all time favorite models. From the gorgeous Goldtop finish, to the great rounded neck profile, there are plenty of reasons to fall in love these incredible instruments. For this piece, I wanted to design my dream '57. With the 2015 improvements at the Gibson Custom Shop, I knew I had the opportunity to create the ultimate '57. The Historic Select pieces are essentially True Historic spec pieces, with all of the accurate plastics, ultra thin hand sanded finishes, and a unique "HS" serial number designation. I realized I had a fantastic platform to start with, so I only made some minor adjustments to dial in what I feel is a KILLER '57. First, I've always had a special place in my heart for a Goldtop with a Dark Back finish, which is a slightly darker brown, almost black finish for the neck, back and sides; so I had to include this ultra-cool, striking option. I also wanted to utilize the incredible aging department at the Custom Shop, so I went with a lightly aged finish. I completed the package, of course, with my favorite humbucker set, the Wildwood Spec Custom Buckers, making this the very first Historic Select/True Historic format instrument with Wildwood Spec pickups. Overall, this turned out to be more than I ever dreamed of: an ultra cool, ultra resonant Les Paul with an attitude that commands attention. I couldn't be happier."
