Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Super Sport
Bold as LoveWildwoodians, we are proud to introduce another awesome offering form our friends at Ernie Ball Music Man: the Axis Super Sport. The Axis Super Sport strips away the Axis's typical locking tremolo in favor of a hardtail bridge while amping up the versatility with a tone knob and a 5-way switch. With this configuration, it may be the ultimate grip-it-and-rip-it HH solidbody.
Feel the FlameBefore we get ahead of ourselves, let's talk about the stunning figured maple tops that adorn the Axis Super Sport, and the delightful high-gloss finishes that highlight their beautiful grain. Underneath that beautiful top lies the Axis's secret ingredient: a basswood body. Basswood is a softer wood that produces strong midrange, and it is quite responsive. So, it makes for punchy sound and a dynamic, expressive playing experience. It's also quite lightweight, so you won't need to keep your chiropractor on speed dial!
Five Ways to ValhallaThe Axis Super Sport's excellent natural tone is furthered by two custom DiMarzio humnbuckers. These powerful pickups put out plenty of muscular, meaty tone, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The 5-way pickup selector offers some rare and delightful humbucker tones. Positions one and five are (respectively) the bridge and neck humbuckers solo'd. Both sound excellent: warm, punchy, and rich.
The madness begins in position 2, which selects just the outside coils of both humbuckers. This makes for a delightfully jangly scooped sound without any volume drop. Position three is both humbuckers in parallel, which sounds like an angry church bell. Position four selects the inside coils, which creates a throaty, quack-y tone. As you can see, the Ernie Ball Axis Super Sport can produce many types of joyous noise!
Sporty FeelTrue to its name, the Super Sport feels liek the guitar equivalent of a little red sports car. Its neck has a modern 10" radius with high-profile medium-width frets, a combination that suits many playing styles because it allows for easy chording and string-bending. The maple neck also sports a hand-rubbed gunstock oil and wax finish, and only one word can accurately describe it: buttery.
Axis of AwesomenessThe Axis Super Sport is the definition of a grip-it-and-rip-it guitar. It's lightweight, it plays fast as all-git-out, and it can cover a lot of stylistic ground with its simple, intuitive controls. We're proud to showcase such an incredible guitar, and we know it will help you reach new heights on your fretboard journey.
