Used Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard - Heavily-Aged
Sonic EvaluationWildwoodians, I invite you to feast your eyes on a truly magnificent Les Paul! This heavily-aged '59 Standard feels like your favorite worn-in pair of jeans, and it sounds like a Viking warlord felling a man with a single blow (forgive me for being impressionistic here--I fell in love with this guitar, and I fell hard). It definitely fits into the "Tele-on-steroids" category of Les Paul thanks to its snappiness, its clarity, and its bite. However, it has a bit of extra gristle and muscle that gives it more weight, power, and authority than normal for such a guitar.
If I were describing an underfed wolf, I'd use many of the same words I'd use to talk about the bridge pickup: biting, snarling, ripping, sinewy, and menacing, to name a few. The neck pickup is more like a mountain lion: still plenty toothy, but with plenty of extra power and weight. Despite all of this, it still sounds clear and focused, and it handled everything from jazz to punk to country with ease. Anyone searching for a clear, articulate Les Paul with elemental power beneath its strings will love this Lester!
Condition ReportThis heavily-aged Custom Shop Les Paul has virtually no signs of play wear. And, it comes with an aged Lifton case and a certificate of authenticity from the Gibson Custom Shop.
