Murphy, Murphy, Murphy!

Mercy me, Wildwoodians! We are jittery with excitement to showcase yet another Tom Murphy-Aged creation from the Gibson Custom Shop for our exceptional customers. For the uninitiated, Tom Murphy is a legendary figure who has customized guitars for everyone from Eric Clapton to Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers, and his aging process (which involves much careful measurement, thoughtful planning, sweat, blood, and elbow grease) is renowned for making modern instruments look like they were born in the fifties and sixties.

This time, our favorite guitar-aging wizard has applied his signature brand of vintage magic to our Wildwood Spec Les Paul Customs, and they are some of the best-looking aged guitars we have ever seen. I can only speak for myself, but when I opened the case for the first time and looked at the paint job, I was so overtaken by guitar-lust that all I could do was go "BWHUUUH! WHAAAA?!?" I am certain that Tom Murphy's work will reduce you to a gibbering mess, too--it looks that beautiful. The Wildwood team is certain that you will be inspired every time you look at one of these Tom Murphy-Aged Wildwood Spec Les Paul Customs, and we are honored to showcase guitars of such exceptional beauty.

Classic Looks. Timeless Tone

Les Paul Customs are the sort of guitars that strike fear into the hearts of men. They're refined beasts, sure, but beneath that sophisticated veneer they're all rock and roll muscle. Needless to say, we're all huge Custom fans here at Wildwood, so we jumped at the chance to add one to the Wildwood Spec family! After many nerdy phone conversations about things like getting the color of the binding juuuuuuust right and countless hours of toil from the wizards at the Gibson Custom Shop, our latest entry in the Wildwood Spec series is finished!

The Wildwood Spec 1957 Les Paul Custom features a solid mahogany body for extra tonal heft and exceptional resonance. The ebony fingerboard is also attached with hot hide glue for improved energy transfer, so these guitars are quite loud and resonant when unplugged! Our Wildwood Spec Custom 'Buckers only improve this excellent natural tone by delivering sweet, vintage-perfect tone. After paying so much attention to replicating the sound of the originals, we had to make sure they looked right, too! So, we equipped them with waffle-back tuners, gold hardware, and vintage-accurate plastics to complete the package. We are so proud of these Wildwood Spec 1957 Les Paul Customs, and we know you will find them just as inspiring as we do!
