Used 2004 PRS Santana Brazilian Limited - #182 of 200
Sonic EvaluationThis Brazilian Limited Santana absolutely knocked my socks off with its rich, sweet voice and gorgeous quilted maple top. With its Santana Yellow finish, it hearkens back to the early days of PRS, and it has old-school sounds to match its vibe. The neck pickup has delightful midrange response that remains throaty despite its broad, open sound. Think of a twenty-foot tall giant covering Bing Crosby and you'll get an idea of how it sounds both vocal and massive. The low-end is warm and rich, and the trebles are sugary and clear like rock candy.
The bridge pickup's midrange is more focused--imagine the aforementioned giant landing a haymaker--and it has Goldilocks-approved low-end (enough gristle to be tasty, but lean enough to be healthy). The high-end also produces lots of nice sparkly overtones.
You can certainly bring some bite out of this Santana by digging in, but the Brazilian neck and fingerboard give everything a woody, round sound, so you never sound harsh even when you're playing with bad intentions.
Anyone seeking a PRS with classic vibes and righteous tone will love this limited-edition beauty!
Condition ReportThis smooth Santana shows virtually no play wear except for a few very small dings near the controls. It comes with its original PRS case, which is sturdy but has a few rips in the tolex. In the case, you'll find the original Santana humbuckers (the previous owner swapped the old ones for more modern Santana 'buckers) and a cool leather strap!
