The Warhawk Has Left the Nest

Beware, citizens! Tremble in fear as the mighty Warhawk circles high in the sky, ready to rain down rock and roll from the heavens above! Of course, the actual Reverend Warhawk isn't quite aerodynamic enough to get airborne (and the Wildwood team does NOT recommend that you try), but it is still capable of providing tone that befits its fearsome moniker! Let's take a closer look at what makes the Warhawk such an imposing beast.

Three is the Magic Number

With P-90s, more is always merrier, and the Warhawk 390 is one of the merriest guitars in the land! Of course, I'm being slightly facetious--all P-90-equipped guitars hold a special place in my heart--but the three-pickup configuration is a big reason why this bird of prey is so formidable. First off, Reverend's 9A5 P-90s go with the korina body like Nutella and peanut butter! This marriage of wood and wire produces bell-like chime in the high end, powerful midrange, and sonorous lows, and Reverend's beloved bass contour knob allows you to tweak that excellent basic sound to your heart's content.

This would be a fantastic guitar if it had just two pickups, but being able to play in positions 2 and 4 opens up a whole new sonic universe! With just three knobs and a five-way switch, you can get just about every P-90 tone imaginable. Positions two and four are gloriously quack-y, and you can get some excellent bright, thin tones by messing with the bass contour knob in the in-between positions. The neck pickup can do jazzy warmth with the best of them when you roll back the volume and cut bass, and it has some searing, round lead tones on tap with everything full-on! If you like brighter sounds, the bridge pickup sounds lush through a clean and amp and it roars through an overdriven amp. There are endless combinations of settings to try, but none of them are difficult to dial in, and all of them are quite useful. Truly, this bird can do it all!

Taking Wing

Another reason the Warhawk is so battle-ready is its unique "winged" body shape. The center section is thicker to give you more sonic heft, but the "wings" are thinner, which gives you more resonance. And wow, does this guitar ever resonate! The set neck imparts extra volume, warmth and sustain, so this guitar sounds big enough to send an entire army running for the hills.

Equipped for Battle

The Warhawk 390 also comes with all of Reverend's signature appointments: a comfortable medium oval neck with medium jumbo frets for maximum butteriness, a Boneite nut and pin-lock tuners for superb tuning stability, and a 24 3/4" scale for slinky handfeel.
