Sonic Evaluation
Wildwoodians, we often leave notes on guitar cases using painter's tape after we play and evaluate guitars in order to record our thoughts. This guitar bears a phrase previously unseen in Wildwood history: "Trevor and Brian's wooden son." That obviously requires some explanation, so here goes. I'm Trevor, and I write all the text for our website, and Brian is our resident acoustic specialist and Fingerstyle Weapons Master. We're both huge acoustic guitar nerds, but we play very differently. I have a bluegrass sledgehammer for a right hand, and Brian plays with a very precise, light touch. Naturally, we have different taste in our instruments, but occasionally we find a guitar that we both love equally. When we busted out this 000-28, I joked that it was like someone had merged our sensibilities. Thus, the weird note!
So, what does that mean in concrete terms regarding our beautiful wooden son? Well, it speaks with a lush, complex, robust voice at low volumes, and it's insanely responsive and dynamic. But, it also has a stout attack that can handle enthusiastic strumming and picking without splatting out, tons of projecting power, and ludicrously high headroom for a 000. It would put the fear of Lemmy into some dreadnoughts, and while it may not be a banjo killer, it's definitely a banjo maimer (which would be a sick name for a bluegrass band). As you might guess, it has more dynamic range than an early Pixies song, which makes for a delightfully expressive, inspiring playing experience. Bass notes rattle your ribs, the midrange is rich, and the trebles are fat and sweet. Across the board, it has one of most magnificent overtone profiles I've ever heard, too.
If you're looking for a world-beating 000-28, I have no doubt you'll come to love Brian and I's wooden son as much we do if you adopt him!
