Lowden Guitars S-50C 12-Fret – Macassar Ebony

A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever
George Lowden was only ten years old when he built his first acoustic guitar with a square soundboard, bent nails for frets, and fishing line for strings. He’s since moved on to much, much better materials (including real strings!), but every Lowden Guitar that leaves his shop is still shot through with just as much love, joy, integrity and passion as that fateful first guitar. George Lowden calls this the “Olympic method” of making guitars, and his commitment to excellence is evident with every strum. He and his small team make their guitars in a small shop in Downpatrick, Ireland with such impeccable craftsmanship and artistic flair that they may very well transcend your notion of what an acoustic guitar can do. We know that they will transform your music-making experience for the better, and we invite you to discover the awe-inspiring sounds of these majestic Irish acoustics.
A 12-Fret Terror
Wildwoodians, this serial is a marvelous example of Lowden's peerless craftsmanship and out-of-this-world tonewoods, and it is an absolute 12-fret terror! All body woods are of high enough quality to achieve the title of mastergrade, and they sound as stunning as they look. The alpine spruce top produces a lovely bouquet of overtones, and it imparts lots of touch sensitivity and dynamism. The back and sides are Macassar ebony, which adds plenty of bass depth, and clarity while bringing the thunder when it comes to projection. And, the 12-fret body construction gives it a piano-like full-bodied tonality. All in all, this is a very balanced, clear instrument that responds beautifully to a wide range of play styles. We have no doubt that it will inspire some intrepid acoustic adventurer to embark on all sorts of exciting fretboard journeys.
