Martin Guitars Custom Shop Wildwood Spec 000-41 - Ziricote
Ziricote and Italian Alpine spruce are an unorthodox and rare wood pairing, but after playing this Custom Shop 000-41, I hope I see many guitars that put the two together. They work together in marvelous tandem. Italian Alpine spruce produces a beautifully complex sound with an excellent balance between complex overtones and a clear, powerful fundamental. Ziricote is like a stiffer version of Brazilian rosewood. It has a bit more focus in the midrange, and its trebles are crisper, but it still produces the same lush reverberant sound full of rich lows and sparkling highs.
Together, these two tonewoods help this 000-41 make beautiful noises. It has room-filling resonance and enough headroom to sound great at high volumes, but it also has an incredible capacity for subtlety, dynamics, and sensitivity. It presents a rich bouquet of overtones even at low volumes, so fingerstyle players will love how colorful, vivid, and alive it sounds. When you strum hard, it sounds rich yet sculpted--probably because of the smaller 000 body. So, strummers seeking a complex sound without too much boom will dig this serial, too. However, anyone seeking a versatile Martin with rare woods and rarer tone will dig this glorious 000-41.
