Gibson Limited Slash J-45
Overview Video
Use Your Acoustic Illusion
When you picture Slash, you probably see him with a Les Paul strapped to his shoulder in front of a frighteningly large stack of amplifiers. But, he has been a dyed-in-the-wool acoustic enthusiast for his whole career! In fact, he wrote most of Use Your Illusion II on an acoustic guitar, and his tasteful acoustic work is a key ingredient in the Guns and Roses recipe for musical greatness. So, it was only natural for Gibson to include an awesome acoustic in their Slash Collection. Wildwoodians, we invite you to step into the snake pit and meet the Slash J-45, a high-performance beast that offers modern playability and classic Gibson sounds in the same package.
The Slash J-45 puts a few interesting twists on a classic formula. It has a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, a combination that produces warm, punchy midrange, robust but well-mannered low-end, and trebles laden with sunny overtones. The Slash J-45 also has a short 24.75" scale, which enhances articulation and responsiveness. All in all, its traditional construction gives it fullness across the board while maintaining exceptional clarity and balance.
Acoustic Paradise
But, the tweaks Gibson made are quite exciting! Instead of the typical modern neck profile, the Slash J-45 has a fatter rounded C shape reminiscent of a vintage Gibson from the forties, and it feels glorious. Also, instead of the more rounded 12" radius they normally use, they equipped the Slash J-45 with a flatter 16" radius. This allows for a lower setup and makes this guitar feel imminently shreddable. Finally, it comes equipped with an LR Baggs VTC pickup, which puts out a warm, clear signal that sounds like it came straight off a reel of analog tape.
So, there you have it! The Slash J-45 is a souped-up beast with plenty of sonic horsepower and all sorts of features that enhance the player's experience. It has a pleasing blend of classic sound and modern playability, and playing it feels like taking a little red sports car for a spin on some country roads where there is no law enforcement for miles. We know it will be an inspiring companion on all your acoustic adventures, and we hope you dig it as much as we do!
