Used 2014 Martin HD-28V
V for VintagePushing the modern dreadnought closer to the vintage paragon, the Herringbone D-28 Vintage is truly a force to reckoned with. Both the HD-28 and HD-28V share the scalloped bracing configuration, but with one considerable difference: The "X" brace on the Vintage model is "forward-shifted" (i.e. moved closer to the soundhole). This allows for a substantial increase in bass response and overall volume.
Shifting the bracing pattern forward might seem like a simple change, but there's a delicate balance to provide optimal stability under string tension in tandem with great "Golden Era" tone. Fortunately for all of us, Martin has had well over 80 years of experience finessing this skill. There's a reason these are the most popular Vintage Series models, and one strum makes that reason immediately apparent.
Condition ReportThis HD-28V is in marvelous shape! It has some very light dings and scratches, but nothing beyond the realm of normal playwear other than one larger ding on the treble-side lower bout. It comes with a hardshell case, too. If you don't mind a couple of very minor cosmetic imperfection, you can score a monster Martin at an exceptional value here!
