James Tyler Mongoose Retro
Sonic EvaluationWhew, this Barn Find beauty from James Tyler sure is a golden 'goose! It's one of those guitars that connect you to the visceral delights of electric music. I think I sat there playing the same little Ac/DC-esque riff for like five minutes straight because it sounded so good I didn't want it to stop. The magic starts with the attack: its woody, articulate, and percussive, and it immediately gives way to a glorious bouquet of blooming overtones. There is enough note bloom for the guitar to sound rich, but all of these overtones have a warm, even, woody timbre. It makes for quite a satisfying blend of clarity and resonance!
The neck 'bucker is smooth, creamy, and warm, and the top end sings in a way that will give you goosebumps. The bridge single-coil is warm, punchy and full, with plenty of sparkle and twang on its top-end.
Anyone searching for a warm, punchy Tyler with exceptional clarity and a rich sound will love this Mongoose Retro!
