Gibson SJ-200 Custom – Koa
The King Goes on VacationThe SJ-200 is the picture of kingly perfection: it looks regal, it sounds royally huge, and it comes from a storied tradition. But what happens when the king trades his robes and sceptre for flip-flops and a Tommy Bahama shirt? The SJ-200 Custom Koa from Gibson Montana is what happens when the king goes on an island vacation. It has glorious koa back and sides that give it a sweet voice unlike any other SJ-200. It still has the cavernous, room-filling resonance and sky-high headroom that classic SJ-200s are known for. But, the midrange has a warm, rich, sweet quality, and the attack sounds rounder and woodier. The robust midrange fills out the center of the jumbo sound, resulting in a warm, balanced overall sound.
Of course, the king looks regal even when he's on vacation. The woods are beautiful (peep the AAA-grade maple neck!), and the abalone inlays look refined and elegant.
Most importantly, koa is a wood that will grow with you. The more you play a koa guitar, the more it "opens up." The midrange becomes warmer and richer, and you get more and more lush, sunny resonance in the highs. So, the SJ-200 is an heirloom-quality guitar that will sound better every day!
We're proud to present such a spectacular instrument for our exceptional customers. We invite you to take a vacation with the king of the flat-tops to Koa Tone Country. Once you get there, we're sure you'll never want to go back.
