Used Gibson 2009 Les Paul Traditional
Sonic EvaluationThis 2009 Traditional is really hitting its stride after its tenth birthday! It's definitely a rich-sounding, room-filling Les Paul. The midrange is rich and warm, and the highs are sweet and sunny. The low-end is beefy and girthy, but not so fat that it overwhelms the ear and inhibits clarity--a perfect balance! The bridge pickup is woody, muscular, and punchy, while the neck pickup is thick, rich, and creamy. Both pickups sound remarkably open, too. All in all, it's a monster Paul that will satisfy anyone looking for Gibson beef!
Condition ReportThis 2009 Traditional has seen some good, honest play wear in its decade of life. There is some very light fretwear, but the frets have a ton of life in them. There are a few small dings on the top, some more dings and buckle rash on the back, and some bigger dings on the sides. The biggest are near the output jack. There is a also a chip on the top of the headstock, and the bridge pickup ring is a tad bit warped. The knobs are cracked, as is common for Les Pauls that have been around the block a few times. A previous owner installed Dunlop strap-lock buttons, but there are no strap ends.
Also, at some point the pickguard was replaced with one of the same style. The original is in the case, and it bears the signature of an unknown artist--mysterious! Also, the satin finish has been burnished shiny from play, which looks really cool. All in all, this Traditional looks like a workhorse player guitar. If you can look past a few small cosmetic issues, you can score a killer player for an excellent price!
