Pete Townshend is one of my favorite acoustic guitar players (see this
stellar live performance for an example of his acoustic skills), and this signature model definitely captures his signature sound. It has a crisp, articulate attack that never sounds harsh even when you're windmilling away, and its voice is big, bold, and clear. You'll find satisfying boom in the bass register, though the low-end ultimately remains well-behaved. The midrange has a bit of a notch in it, so it sounds quite transparent. Finally, in the highs, you'll find lots of sweet-sounding, chiming resonance. All in all, this guitar sounds huge and clear, and it has just the right amount of overtone response to sound robust. Anyone looking to engage in a little bit of pinball wizardry should hop on the magic bus to try this guitar out posthaste.
This Pete Townshend Signature is in superb condition. The frets only show incredibly light wear, and they have lots of life in them. There is some checking on the back of the headstock, and a few small checks on the top at the waist. Other than that, it looks dandy! If you can overlook these tiny flaws, you can score a sweet-sounding guitar hand-signed by a living legend of guitar. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
